My name is Mrs. Brenda Wertel. I teach first grade at Sunnyside School in the Pulaski Community School District. My lengthy teaching experience, combined with being a mother and grandmother, makes me a truly child-centered individual. I believe that teaching and learning are give-and-take processes, where teachers and students continually learn with and from each other. I work hard with my students to create a community of learners where everyone feels safe, accepted, valued, empowered, and successful. I feel strongly about home-school partnerships in order to maximize student learning. I think it is an honor and privilege to partner with parents in educating children.
