Hola. My name is Tracie Van Gheem-Rottier and I am a Spanish teacher in the World Languages Department at Pulaski High School. I teach Spanish II, Spanish IV, Spanish V and UWGB College Credit Spanish. In addition, I am the Department Chair for World Languages at the High School. I love teaching and enjoy being with the students every single day!
PROFESSIONAL TRAVEL
Spain, Spring 2024: Explored Madrid (Prado, Museo Reina Sofía, Parque de El Retiro, Plaza Mayor) and Barcelona (Sagrada Familia, Boquería, Las Ramblas, Barrio Gótico, Parque Güell, Casa Batlló and Parc de la Ciutadella with a quick side-trip to Bagá (Spain), Andorra la Vella (Andorra) and Mont Louis (France).
Costa Rica, Summer 2023: I studied and toured Costa Rica with 28 Pulaski High School students and 3 other PCSD teachers. We visited a the rain forest at Tortuguero National Park, La Paz Waterfall Garden, Manuel Antonio National Park, a local school and more. Students lived with host families in La Guacima, Alajuela, Costa Rica and we took language lessons at 'El Rancho Español'.
Puerto Rico, Summer 2021: Explored Old San Juan, Isla Verde, the Yunque rainforest, Fajardo/Laguna Grande while enjoying the local culture.
Guatemala, Summer 2019: I studied and toured Guatemala with 16 Pulaski High School students and 2 other PCSD Spanish teachers. We hiked up Pacaya volcano, volunteered at a local school, enjoyed a canopy zipline tour, and more. Students lived with host families in Antigua, Guatemala and we took language classes at 'Tecún Uman'.
Costa Rica & Nicaragua, Summer 2014: I studied and toured Costa Rica and Nicaragua with 21 Pulaski High School students and 5 other PCSD teachers. We visited a rain forest, a could forest, a local school and more. Students lived with host families in Granada, Nicaragua and we took language lessons at 'Ave Nicaraguita'.
Spain, Summer 2003: I toured central and southern Spain with 14 Pulaski High School students and 3 other area teachers. We saw art masterpieces in the Prado Museum and Palacio Real and toured Madrid, Toledo, Sevilla, Córdoba, Granada, and Málaga.
Mexico, Summer 1999: I completed graduate course work in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico in the northern part of the country.
Dominican Republic Winter 1999: I traveled with a group of educators and served as their translator on a mission trip to Elias Piña in the far western part of the Dominican Republic.
Mexico, Summer 1996: I completed my undergraduate study abroad in Morelia, Mexico. Morelia is a beautiful city. While there in addition to my undergraduate studies, I also had an internship as a teacher at a local orphanage.
Mexico, Winter 1994: I traveled with a group of St. Norbert College students and faculty on this trip to Cuernavaca, Mexico. We studied poverty and the economics of the country.
Spain, Summer 1992: I traveled to Barcelona, Spain while in high school. I stayed with a host family for the summer and experienced all the best that this wonderful city has to offer.

I have been a workshop facilitator both in and out of the district for a variety of topics in both World Language and Educational Technology.
