PHS News & Information 12-7-2020

On the evening of December 6, 2020, the Board of Education voted to revert to the plan established at the November 18th meeting. This vote keeps PHS in the virtual learning model where students learn virtually with a teacher for two days per week and with asynchronous learning for the other three days.

With that plan, we are anticipating students will be returning to school on January 25th in our blended learning model.  With this change, we are reestablishing programming that we already had or were planning to implement before the December 2nd Board meeting.  Below is a synopsis of the plans that are being reimplemented.

  • Students that were initially contacted to participate at PHS with A.M. in-person support sessions on Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday will now be held as previously scheduled.  The session will run from 7:45 - 10:45 each morning.  Transportation will be provided to those that had previously requested and worked with us to make arrangements.
  • Previously canceled Wednesday (12/9) afternoon enrichment labs for Science, FACS, & AG are now back on and will be held from 12:00-3:30.  Teachers will contact your student with the details.
  • PHS teacher office hours (Wednesday’s) have been reinstated to the times posted on each course’s Canvas page.
  • PHS will revert back to the learning calendar established back in October; please disregard the calendar shared late last week.  The learning calendar has also been updated on the PHS webpages.

It has been expressed that there is a concern as to what music programming will look like upon our return.  The administration and the Music department continue to revise our plans based on the recommendations from CDC, DPI, and the Wisconsin School Music Association.  We will continue to communicate with parents and students as changes and updates are made.  We hope you understand the situation is fluid on a multitude of levels.  We understand that there has been an incredible amount of change and that this can create additional stress or anxiety for all.  As always, please reach out to any of our PHS school staff, and we will assist to the best of our abilities during these challenging times.

Again, thank you for your continued support and patience as we continue to balance our desire to educate our students while mitigating the community risk of the Covid-19 virus.
