Nominate a PCSD Teacher for 2021 Golden Apple Award

Nominations are now open for the Greater Green Bay Chamber’s 2021 Golden Apple Awards with this year’s kickoff and all nominations being conducted virtually to ensure the safety of the program’s school partners, volunteers and the community at large.

Students can honor the professionalism, teaching excellence and innovation of their teachers by nominating them for a Golden Apple Award at www.GreaterGBC.org/goldenapples now through Friday, Oct. 30. Eligible teachers nominated will be encouraged to complete a Golden Apple Award application to proceed through the Golden Apple Awards vetting process.

To be eligible, teachers must be Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) certified and meet National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.  In a typical year, the Golden Apple Awards kickoff entails the hard work of 65+ volunteers who spend upwards of 150+ hours in classrooms celebrating teachers and introducing the nomination process to Greater Green Bay area students. In 2020, this entailed celebrating and thanking 6,665 teachers for their work at 123 public and private schools in the Greater Green Bay area.

“The Golden Apple Awards kickoff may look different this year, but the focus and the premise of the 28th-annual Golden Apple Awards remain the same: to honor the teachers impacting our children’s lives,” said Eric Vanden Heuvel, vice president of talent and education, Greater Green Bay Chamber. “Everyone recognizes the vast challenges virtual/remote learning presents. And yet, it’s heartening to see the many excellent teachers stepping up and innovating in how they engage and interact with students in an effort to do what they’ve always done: help their students learn, grow and become their best selves.”

A kickoff video produced by major sponsor and partner, WLUK Fox 11, as well as all nomination forms and information, is available at www.GreaterGBC.org/GoldenApples.
