Sept. 26, 2023: Threat at PHS Cleared

Law enforcement has made a sweep of prominent areas and the exterior of the building  that could be a threat to students and staff. As of 11:22 a.m., law enforcement provided district officials with the all clear to reenter the school. Students and staff will be released from Pulaski Community Middle School to return to classes at Pulaski High School.

We highly encourage you to keep your kids in school. Based on our work with law enforcement, the school is safe and secure.  Students will not be dismissed from PHS without following our typical attendance office protocols.

We want to thank all of the staff and students at PHS and PCMS for their cooperation during the evacuation.

A further message will be coming forth with details on the PCSD action plan to multiple similar threats. We are working with other districts and law enforcement agencies that have had similar multiple threats occur and their responses and action plans.

Sept. 26, 2023: Emergency Evacuation at PHS Due to Threat

The threat we received Friday continues to be investigated by authorities.  A similar threat was shared with local media this morning.  School cameras were checked and the building was secured overnight. The perimeter and roof was also checked by law enforcement. After meeting with law enforcement, and though the threat was similar, we deemed it precautionary but necessary to evacuate the building.  We are awaiting a K9 explosive dog to arrive and check the building.

Students have been evacuated to the PCMS Gym.  Please do not attempt to come to the middle school to pick up your student(s) in order to keep all students safe and accounted for at this time.  We will notify you when we have been given the all clear.

Likewise, there is no evidence that the teacher has created or distributed pornography of any type to any students or within the school community in any capacity. Nor is there any evidence that the teacher has been involved in the creation or distribution of pornography in any context. Teachers are entitled to their personal lives and provided that those personal lives do not impact the teacher’s ability to perform the job and do not pose any safety concerns for the students, it is not the District’s place to dictate personal behavior that is lawful and unrelated to one’s duties as a teacher.

District officials are greatly concerned by the disturbing communications we are receiving that contain fabricated assertions of grooming behavior and false allegations that kids have been exposed to pornography. To reiterate, there is no evidence of any of this alleged behavior. More concerning still are those who feel empowered by
