School District Funding on Tax Statements
The vast majority of public school funding comes from property taxes. The other source is state aid. All school districts have a limit to the amount of funding they can receive in total from these two sources. The Pulaski Community School district's amount is $11,811.39/per pupil. State aid fluctuates from year-to-year, and as a result, so does the amount paid by property taxes. The majority of counties and municipalities tax against a parcel's assessed value, and the school district taxes against its fair market value.
Rates for PCSD Residents
As approved by the PCSD Board of Education, the 2025 property tax levy is $22,452, 803. That breaks down to a taxed amount of $6.94 per $1,000 of equalized property value.
Budget Challenges and State Aid Shortfalls

$325/per pupil increase for the next two years, while cost of living increase estimated to be $414/per pupil.
$170 million cut from general aid to public school districts over the next two years.
35% estimated increase to the special education reimbursement rate still falls well below meeting rising costs.
