Requirements
Applicant must have a father, mother, or natural guardian who is...
- a full-time active employee in the state where the student applies
- a full-time paid member of the police or sheriff's department or fire department. Parent/guardian may also be a volunteer member of a fire department.
- parent/guardian must be a full-time public safety officer (police/fire). Children of administrative staff do not qualify.

Awards
The WIESA program awards two $1,500 scholarships. One goes to the son/daughter of an active Wisconsin fire department employee and the other to the son/daughter of an active Wisconsin police department employee. Winners may be moved forward to the national level awards consisting of a $5,000 runner-up prize and a $10,000 grand prize.
