Congratulations to the Pulaski Community School District, which, once again, has received the Best Communities for Music Education designation awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.
To qualify for the Best Communities designation, the PCSD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
The PCSD has very active band and choir programs starting early on in students' educations. High school choir and band members have opportunities to perform during out-of-state trips.
Band and music students recently returned from performing at Disneyworld in Florida. Previously, music students performed at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York as well as the prestigious Carnegie Hall. The marching band is vying for another invitation to perform at a future Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.
The district has a very active Music Boosters group that helps support music education locally.
The PCSD also received the prestigious designation in 2020.
Congrats to everyone involved with PCSD's music education.
