GO Time

At PCMS we have a unique time in our schedule entitled GO Time, where the GO stands for “Growth Opportunity”.  The philosophy of GO Time is as follows:

At PCMS, we believe in the growth mindset, the conviction that all people have the capacity to learn and grow through hard work and continuous deliberate practice.  Therefore, we strive to provide the time, opportunities, and guidance to allow that growth to happen through the use of GO Time!

This is a half-hour block of time at the end of the day that is set aside for students to participate in enrichment courses that will allow them to experience improvement in an area of high interest and/or need.

Therefore, if there are areas where a student needs improvement to be more successful in school, he or she may ask or be asked to take a specific session that allows them to participate in guided deliberate practice in that area.  Right now those sessions are offered for all content areas.

If a student does not need additional practice in these areas, he/she will be able to choose what skills they would like to target for growth. There are a number of enrichment options available.  All enrichment offerings fall into one of 5 categories:

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
  • Visual and Performing Arts
  • Wellness (Health and Fitness)
  • Literacy/Language
  • Social Studies/Business

We use an online scheduling tool called Edficiency to schedule students into Go Time classes.

If you have any questions about GO Time at PCMS, you can contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Brenda Shimon, Associate Principal, at 822-6502 or email.
