"Into the Book" Reading Comprehension Media

All of the “Into the Book” educational media resources are now in one place!

“Into the Book” is a collection of educational media resources that help students learn and apply eight research-based reading comprehension strategies including Using Prior Knowledge, Making Connections, Questioning, Visualizing, Inferring, Summarizing, Evaluating and Synthesizing.

“Into the Book” includes 33 online student interactives in English and Spanish! There are teaching guides too.

The Teaching Tools include lesson plans, music, booklists and downloadable posters. Nine 15-minutes videos teach students how to apply the comprehension strategies. With video, student thinking is made visual through special effects!

The Professional Learning section presents a series of videos featuring exemplary Wisconsin educators effectively teaching their students to be strategic readers. There are also support resources connected to PDPs and SLOs!

Please consider sharing your story with the Education Director at the WI Media Lab, Kristin Leglar, about how these resources impacted students, staff and learning in your school. Your comments will help us evaluate our content and service!

Thank you.
