Eric Gran begins his new duties as Pulaski Community School District information technology coordinator on Monday.
Gran, who previously served for six years as director of technology for the Whitnall School District, has experience over a broad range of the education spectrum starting as a middle school teacher for seven years. He's also served as an adjunct instructor at Cardinal Stritch University in its educational technology graduate program and as a half-time administrator and half-time technology coordinator in a K-8 setting.
"I will bring a very teacher-centric view to technology and education," he said. "When technology is inefficient or throws up barriers to students and staff, I will question its use and ask, 'Why is it in place?'"
Tom Krause, PCSD director of Personnel and Employee Growth, said the district is looking forward to Gran bringing his expertise to the position and to collaborate with Amy Uelmen, instructional technology coordinator, to bring the district's technology instruction and environment to the next level.
"We are not only impressed by Eric's technology knowledge but also his experience in leading staff through changes," he said.
Gran lives in Shawano, where he is a longtime member of the Shawano Ski Sharks water skiing team. Gran is a lifelong water skier, who has been part of several successful attempts to break into the Guinness Book of World Records in the largest human pyramid on water and largest number of barefoot waterskiers at one time categories. He also in an avid skier, snowboarder, motorcycle rider and cook.
