Sommers named new Lannoye Elementary principal

The Pulaski Community School District Board of Education approved the appointment of Jennifer Sommers, current Glenbrook Elementary School dean of students, as principal of Lannoye Elementary School at Wednesday night’s meeting.

She replaces Nichole Napralla, who for the past two years served as principal of both Fairview and Lannoye elementary schools. Napralla will continue as Fairview principal next school year in addition to taking on additional duties as district assessment coordinator.

Sommers, a Hortonville native, who now lives in Appleton, taught third grade in the Ashwaubenon School District for 12 years prior to assuming her current position as Dean of Students at Glenbrook Elementary School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She earned her principal and director of curriculum licensures from Marian University, Fond du Lac.

Sommers said she is excited for the opportunity to work together with staff, students and families to help students reach their fullest potential.

“My philosophy is that we are all working together as a community, doing what’s best for our kids,” she said.

Jennifer Gracyalny, PCSD director of Learning Services, said, “We’re pleased to have Jen to continue to be a part of our team in Pulaski as a learning leader.”  Sommers brings a wealth of knowledge and skills related to learning and teaching to the position, Gracyalny added. “She’s proven that she connects with our students, staff and parents, and we’re pleased she will bring that to Lannoye Elementary School.”

Both Fairview and Lannoye elementary schools will now have full-time leaders.

“We know how important it is to have a full-time administrator at all schools to support students, staff and parents to lead forward learning and the vision of the school,” Tom Krause, PCSD director of Personnel and Employee Growth, said.

Sommers will assume her new duties July 1 at the start of the 2017-18 school year, however, she will begin transitioning to the new role immediately.
