Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy may be provided as a related service, to a student who meets the criteria of an academic disability which limits their ability to fully participate within the classroom.
Pulaski Community Schools provides Occupational Therapy services at each school within the district.
The role of an occupational therapist is:

to evaluate and serve students with whom parents or teachers have identified concerns with functional performance including, but not limited to: self-help, fine motor skills, visual perceptual skills, self-regulation, and sensory development

to assist with program modifications, such as the implementation of assistive technology

to consult and collaborate with parents, teachers and staff about proactive strategies to develop self-help, fine motor, visual perceptual, self-regulation and sensory development, and/or to address delays in these areas that are impacting academic progress
An occupational therapist provides services:

individually, in small groups or by providing whole-class lessons
-
in the therapy room, regular education classroom or special education classroom

through monitoring and consultation

by supporting classroom and special education teachers in providing interventions targeted towards improving self-help, fine motor, visual perception, and sensory processing.
