Science 6:
This course begins focusing on lab safety, the metrics/scientific method, and human body systems (digestive). During the second trimester, the course focuses on the human body systems (respiratory, circulatory, and muscular and skeletal systems) and measuring time. Lastly, the curriculum will center on measuring time and catastrophic events, particularly volcanoes, earthquakes, and hurricanes.

Science 7:
Through hands-on and inquiry-based instruction, seventh grade students will use a variety of tools to develop and apply scientific knowledge, concepts, and critical thinking skills in the areas of basic science methodology, physics (forces, energy, and motion), cells and heredity (genetics, DNA, and cells), and astronomy.

Science 8:
Science 8 will begin with “The Nature of Science,” which will deal with recognizing the science equipment that the student will be using, laboratory safety, the scientific method, and density. Next will be an extensive study of “Chemistry,” followed by the “Animal Kingdom” classification method, and finally a brief introduction to “Weather.” A science binder will be needed with all the work organized into four sections including “Notes” (preference is to use a notebook), “Homework,” “Classroom Handouts,” and “Lab Activities.”

Compacted Science 8/9 class will follow the same General Science curriculum patterns, including additional detail and depth in many areas. The year will begin with “The Nature of Science,” which will deal with recognizing the science equipment that the student will be using, laboratory safety, the scientific method, and density. Next, there will be an extensive study of “Chemistry,” followed by the “Animal Kingdom” classification method, and finally a brief introduction to “Weather.” Assignments will cover a greater expanse of the curriculum and on occasion, more sophisticated lab activities will be used to enhance the learning. A science binder will be needed with all the work organized into four sections including “Notes” (preference is to use a notebook), “Homework,” “Classroom Handouts,” and “Lab Activities.”
