Art 6 (one trimester -- every day):
This class meets daily for one trimester, offering an intense sampling of two and three-dimensional art experiences including drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, and watercolor. Students will be required to keep a sketchbook. Art appreciation and vocabulary are stressed throughout the course. Students’ artwork will be continuously displayed throughout the school.
Art 7 (one trimester -- every day):
This class meets daily for one trimester offering a continuation of two and three-dimensional art experiences including drawing, plaster mask making, clay, painting, reductive printmaking, and scratchboard. Students will be required to keep a sketchbook. Art appreciation and vocabulary are stressed throughout the course. Students’ artwork will be continuously displayed throughout the school.
Art 8 (all year -- day 1/day 2):
Students focus on a variety of projects ranging from drawing to painting to sculpture. Project materials include pencil, colored pencil, tempera and acrylic paint, oil pastel, clay, foam, and glaze. Students also get to create a ceiling tile that will remain as permanent artwork in school. Students will be introduced to numerous artists, art reproductions, and vocabulary at the beginning of each new project. By taking this studio-like course, students will create a wide body of personal artwork and gain valuable art experiences to apply in higher-level courses. Students’ artwork will be continuously displayed throughout the school.
