As we proceed through out grant period, we will be reviewing and selecting math intervention tools and strategies to use with students. Listed below are some potential tools. As we decide which tools to use and implement them, we will modify our list to reflect the tools used as well as their impact on student learning. We will also update our Intervention Inventory to reflect what we own and try.

Solve It! is a curriculum designed to improve the mathematical problem solving skills of students in the upper elementary, middle, and secondary school grades—including students with disabilities who are having difficulties solving mathematical problems.

Successmaker is a computer-based software program that provides tutorials, instruction and practice in several subjects including math. The system monitors student answers to determine which skills are mastered and which ones need additional instruction. Student reports give information on specific skills mastered as well as overall grade level progress. Pulaski currently owns licenses for every elementary school.

FASTT Math - $300 per license, other options are available for school-wide
The FASTT Math intervention program uses the research-validated FASTT system (Fluency and Automaticity through Systematic Teaching with Technology) to help students develop fluency with basic math facts. Hot Math - gathering information on price
This intervention was designed to teach how to solve some of the most common word problems to third grade students with math difficulties. It was developed by Lynn and Doug Fuchs at Vanderbilt University.
Pirate Math - $40 - contact Flora Murray at Vanderbilt University for an order form
Pirate Math is a tutoring program aimed at second and third graders that gives students strategies to solve word problems. First, students learn to identify word problems by type. Next, students learn to represent the problem structure with an algebraic equation and then to solve the equations. Students also learn how to transfer problem-solving skills to problems with irrelevant information and to problems where relevant information is found in graphs, charts, or figures, like word problems found on high-stakes tests. In addition, Pirate Math integrates a pirate theme into the program. Students learn to “find X,” just like pirates do on a treasure map, and they are reinforced and motivated by treasure coins.
PALS Math - check order form for program pricing
PALS Reading and PALS Math were developed to help teachers accommodate diverse learners and to promote their academic success. PALS is listed among best evidence-supported math programs on the John Hopkins University website, Best Evidence Encyclopedis (BEE). The What Works Clearinghouse found "The Peer-Assisted Learning Strategies© instructional program to have potentially positive effects on reading achievement" for elementary-age ELL children.
